Before entering my studies I have taken part in local competitions where I gained two medals. I particularly enjoy playing piano music from the nineteenth century by composers such as Schubert, Chopin, Liszt, Brahms etc and I also enjoy improvising on the piano at leisure. I have studied the history of music as part of my music degree and enjoy sharing my knowledge with my piano students.
I teach the piano to students from age 5 upwards from beginner level up until grade 8 level. I have more than a 95% pass rate for ABRSM piano exams of which 47% of my students have gained a distinction. I also teach music theory and can prepare students for exams if they so wish or entirely for leisure. I have taught the piano both in school, at pupils' homes and at my home and have over 16 years teaching experience in total.
I offer the option of virtual lessons in addition to lessons in person.
For your peace of mind, I am also DBS Checked. Every student is unique and I like to both challenge and encourage them at their own pace and ability.
